Each November, the church family heads to Grange Over Sands for a weekend of teaching, worship and relaxation.
Thornleigh Christian Hotel is our base for the weekend, overlooking the beautiful Morecambe Bay.
About the weekend
We arrive on the Friday night and after enjoying our evening meal, the weekend kicks of with a period of worship where we sing some of our favourite songs and spend time in prayer.
Saturday morning is led by a guest speaker, who challenges us with teachings from the bible to help bring us closer to God. Younger children are given the opportunity to take part in Sunday School activities, while joining the adults for periods of worship at the beginning and end of the session.
Once we’ve had lunch, many of us take a gentle stroll into Grange and along the promenade. However, some make the short trip up to Windermere and some even stay at the hotel. It’s entirely up to you what you do.
After our Saturday evening meal, we usually have a quiz and a ludicrous game of bingo, before heading to bed – or staying up late to share stories and generally have a good laugh while enjoying each other’s company.
Sunday follows a similar pattern, with our guest speaker leading the morning sessions. The only difference being, is that after lunch on the Sunday we have to head home.
